Yes, THAT happened. I mean I like Chinese food too. But maaaaannn. This makes me lose my appetite. What I want to know is — who signed off on this?
OK. There are the usual racial stereotypes, offensive imagery, and tasteless lyrics (no pun intended) — but don’t do injustice to Chinese food in a song about Chinese food. For instance; what is that limp, oily lump of noodles being cooked Mongolian BBQ style?
You can see it magically morphs into this:
If she really loves Chinese food, then she needs to brush up on what to order. This is the blandest meal going — the kind that’ll give you bubble guts. And it doesn’t look like she’s ever held a pair of chopsticks either.
But I have to give credit to the producers for delving into social and racial issues. They touch on the problem of child labor.
And they turn historically racist undertones on their head. In this case, white face for all people of color.
And if that’s not enough – a moral to the story.
I guess we never really got past bigotry, insensitivity, tactlessness and carelessness. The fact that a video like this can come out to the mainstream in this day and age, says a lot about the world we live in. AYAH! I think I have indigestion.
